The East Gate 1 project rises at the intersection of Via Prenestina and Via Casilina, directly facing Porta Maggiore. The design preserves the historic routes of these two ancient roads, reflected in the garden’s boundary walls. The complex enjoys excellent public transport connections, with close proximity to metro lines A and C, Termini Station, and the network of buses and trams running through Piazzale Labicano.
ARCHITECTURE
A Chessboard of Glass and Iron
The East Gate 1 project is a real estate complex composed of four buildings—A, B, C, and D—rising respectively four, five, six, and seven storeys above ground.
Buildings A and B are internally connected through a shared ground floor that houses two reception areas, training rooms, meeting spaces, and offices, while all upper levels are dedicated to office use.
Buildings C and D, also office spaces, are elevated on pilotis and separated by a single-storey volume, likewise used as offices.
The complex is unified by an underground level extending across the entire site, whose roof forms the external common area—partly paved, partly landscaped.
Building A has a quadrangular layout, with offices arranged around a central courtyard, while Buildings B, C, and D follow a rectangular plan with offices distributed along a central corridor.
The façades feature a dynamic chessboard pattern of textured concrete, glass, and iron—a distinctive architectural expression from the late 1960s to early 1970s.
